11th October 2026 - 15th October 2026
INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CAMP 2026: TVET FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE (V'TARA 26)
Background
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a key component in developing a highly skilled and competitive human capital base, in line with the agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). TVET not only equips learners with technical skills required by the job market, but also fosters awareness of environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and social responsibility among the younger generation.
In line with global developments, there is a growing need to broaden the perspectives of TVET students and participants through international exposure, experiential learning, and engagement with communities and industries that practice sustainable approaches and green technologies. Activities such as industrial visits, mangrove tree planting projects, and smart technology learning provide participants with opportunities to apply TVET competencies within the context of sustainable development and community well-being.
V’TARA 26 is organized by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) with the primary aim of developing participants who are not only technically competent, but also globally aware of sustainability and innovation. The program emphasises holistic learning through a combination of hands-on activities, industry visits, green technology education, and exploration of local culture. Overall, this program aspires to nurture a generation of youth who are competent, innovative, and responsible towards environmental sustainability, in line with UTHM’s vision as a technology-oriented and sustainability-driven university.
Program Objectives
1. To enhance students’ TVET competencies and educational quality through practical and experiential learning approaches.
2. To empower youth with green skills and knowledge in renewable energy, particularly solar technology.
3. To strengthen awareness of environmental sustainability and ecosystem conservation through conservation activities and field-based learning.
4. To strengthen strategic collaboration among educational institutions, industry, and the community in supporting sustainable development and practices.

Participants will undergo training in Building Automation Systems (BAS), gaining exposure to the transformation of commercial and residential buildings into energy-efficient and smart environments.
Green Skills: Solar for Sustainable Youth
This session provides youth with exposure to the importance of solar energy as a renewable energy source in supporting sustainable development. Through interactive sessions and basic demonstrations, participants will be introduced to the concept of solar energy, its applications in daily life, and green skill opportunities relevant to TVET and future careers. The program also aims to cultivate environmental sustainability awareness and reduce carbon footprints.
UNESCO Ecohydrology Demonstration Site Treasure Hunt at UTHM Lake
Participants will take part in an interactive treasure hunt at the UNESCO Ecohydrology Demonstration Site at UTHM Lake, focusing on hydrology, flora, fauna, and wetland functions. This activity enhances understanding of micro-ecosystems, water resource management, and hydrological sustainability, while fostering scientific thinking and teamwork. Each participant will receive an Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) UNESCO Certificate, enhancing their credibility and international exposure.
