About RAVTE
Regional Association of Vocational and Technical Education in Asia
The Regional Association of Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE) is a regional professional network dedicated to strengthening collaboration, innovation, and institutional capacity in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Asia and beyond.
RAVTE serves as a platform that brings together universities, TVET institutions, researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to advance knowledge exchange and promote future-oriented skills development. The association is currently led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sommai Pivsa-Art, with its central secretariat hosted at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Thailand.
What RAVTE Does
RAVTE works to advance the quality and relevance of TVET systems through regional and global cooperation. Its core activities include:
- Promoting innovation in TVET teaching, research, and institutional development
- Building the capacity of educators through international workshops, training programmes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Facilitating academic collaboration and research partnerships among member institutions
- Encouraging the integration of digital transformation, emerging technologies, and Artificial Intelligence into TVET practice
- Supporting the development of a future-ready workforce aligned with evolving industrial and societal needs
Through these initiatives, RAVTE plays an important role in strengthening TVET ecosystems and supporting sustainable economic development across the region.
Member Countries and Institutional Network
RAVTE’s membership consists of universities, training institutions, and partner organizations across Asia.
While the association continues to expand its regional network, active collaboration has involved institutions from countries such as:
- Thailand – including Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT)
- Indonesia – including Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI)
- Malaysia – including Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
The association welcomes participation from additional countries and institutions committed to advancing TVET excellence and cross-border cooperation.
RAVTE General Assembly Meeting (GAM)
The RAVTE General Assembly Meeting (GAM) is the association’s flagship annual gathering.
The GAM provides a high-level forum where:
- Member institutions review progress and strategic priorities
- New initiatives, partnerships, and research collaborations are discussed
- Regional policy directions and innovation agendas are set
- Opportunities for joint programmes and capacity-building initiatives are developed
The GAM serves not only as RAVTE’s formal governance meeting but also as a major platform for strengthening institutional networks and shaping the future direction of TVET in the region.

RAVTE GAM at WoCTVET 2026
The RAVTE General Assembly Meeting 2026 will be held alongside the World Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (WOCTVET 2026) on 14 October 2026, hosted by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
Bringing the GAM together with WOCTVET creates a unique opportunity for:
- Regional leaders and global scholars to engage in strategic dialogue
- Institutions to strengthen partnerships across continents
- Participants to connect research, policy, and practice within a single international platform
This joint event reflects RAVTE’s commitment to advancing TVET collaboration at both regional and global levels.
